About this place
Set in a residential pocket of Kuzeoyabu-cho in Kyoto's Minami Ward, Nicolo serves authentic pizza and small plates crafted by a chef with an Italian culinary background, all in an unpretentious setting. A particular favourite is the fragrant boscaiola pizza topped with fresh mushrooms. Alongside the seafood-laden pescatore, it works equally well as a hearty main meal or as an order to share around the table.
Beyond pizza, the kitchen prepares satisfying mains such as the domestic teppanyaki hamburg steak, seared to a savoury finish, and fettuccine carbonara with flat ribbons of pasta clinging to rich sauce. Meals flow comfortably from appetisers like the house Anicolo salad dressed with homemade onion sauce or the chef's daily special before moving on to the main courses.
Glassware lines the bar counter in the relaxed dining room, where drinks span draft beer and wine to highballs, cocktails, and Okinawan awamori. The welcoming space suits everything from an affordable lunch to an unhurried dinner over drinks. Table reservations are accepted, and payment via PayPay is available.
